R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the |
|
passing of Clester Ray Moore of Kountze on February 13, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, "Buddy" Moore was a longtime resident of Kountze and |
|
an admired newspaperman who entered the business as an apprentice |
|
at the age of 12; he began writing his trademark column, "Sports |
|
Galore, by C. R. Moore," just two years later; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan worked at several newspapers, |
|
including the Orange Leader, the Houston Post, and the Augusta |
|
Chronicle in Georgia, and he also created the paper that would |
|
become the Hardin County News; his true passion in publishing was |
|
the Kountze News, which he bought in 1974; under his guidance, the |
|
paper helped focus widespread attention on his beloved hometown by |
|
promoting tourism events, advocating for local causes, and |
|
publishing quirky and entertaining stories that delighted its |
|
readers; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Moore enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Jeanie, with whom he raised a loving family |
|
that grew to include two children and a grandchild; and |
|
WHEREAS, Though it is impossible to gauge the full effect of |
|
one man's life, some individuals leave their unmistakable mark on |
|
the world as they move through it, and Buddy Moore had an enduring |
|
influence on the Kountze community that continues to resonate among |
|
the city's residents; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clester Ray Moore and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Jeanie; to his daughters, Cherrye and her husband, Peppe, and |
|
Charlee; to his grandson, Cole; to his brother, Jack, and his wife, |
|
Peggy; to his in-laws, Ernest and Shirley Cherry, Debra Alegre and |
|
her husband, Butch, Catherine Manshack, Monese Odom and her |
|
husband, Randy, Scottie and his wife, Pam, and Ernest Cherry, Jr.; |
|
and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Buddy |
|
Moore. |
