R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of San Antonio came together on March 30,
  2009, to celebrate the opening of the Elvira Cisneros Senior
  Community Center; and
         WHEREAS, Established by WellMed, the center offers
  activities to benefit the minds, bodies, and spirits of its
  patrons; in addition to workout equipment and daily exercise
  classes, members may enjoy movies, games, and arts and crafts; and
         WHEREAS, The facility was named in honor of San Antonio civic
  leader Elvira Cisneros, who has shared her time with many worthy
  endeavors, including AVANCE, a nonprofit agency that provides
  parent-child support and education services to high-risk,
  low-income families; her outstanding efforts have earned her such
  prestigious honors as the Alexis de Tocqueville Society Centennial
  Award from President Gerald Ford and a medal for her work with
  National Easter Seals from President Ronald Reagan; and
         WHEREAS, The opening of the Elvira Cisneros Senior Community
  Center is an important occasion for the city of San Antonio and its
  residents, and the celebration provides a fitting opportunity to
  recognize this notable facility and the services that it will
  offer; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the grand opening of the Elvira
  Cisneros Senior Community Center and extend to all associated with
  the center sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
