R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, To the delight of all who know them, Thomas L. |
|
Johnson and Katherine P. Miller of Austin were united in marriage in |
|
a private ceremony in Hawaii on September 2, 2008; and |
|
WHEREAS, Kathy Miller graduated from college in North |
|
Carolina, and today she takes an active role volunteering in behalf |
|
of her community through various charitable endeavors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is an alumnus of Texas A&M University |
|
and a U.S. Army veteran who attained the rank of first lieutenant; |
|
the executive vice president of Associated General Contractors of |
|
Texas, he also serves on the Texas Department of Transportation |
|
2030 Committee, was inducted into the Texas Transportation |
|
Institute Hall of Honor in 2006, and was named one of America's Top |
|
100 Private Sector Transportation Design and Construction |
|
Professionals of the 20th Century by the American Road and |
|
Transportation Builders Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Together, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson share their time and |
|
resources to support various civic interests, including the Long |
|
Center for the Performing Arts and the Headliners Club of Austin; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Devoted to each other and to their treasured family, |
|
the couple take great pride in their combined family, which |
|
includes his children, Thomas L. Johnson, Jr., and Karen A. |
|
Johnson, her children, Kay Vesely and Phil Patman, as well as Mrs. |
|
Johnson's three grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, The wedding of Tom and Kathy Johnson marks a |
|
profound deepening of a relationship that has grown in love, |
|
respect, and mutual regard with each passing day, and it is truly a |
|
pleasure to honor this fortunate couple; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas L. Johnson and Katherine P. |
|
Johnson on their marriage and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Johnson as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
