R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, To the delight of all who know them, Thomas L.
  Johnson and Katherine P. Miller of Austin were united in marriage in
  a private ceremony in Hawaii on September 2, 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Kathy Miller graduated from college in North
  Carolina, and today she takes an active role volunteering in behalf
  of her community through various charitable endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is an alumnus of Texas A&M University
  and a U.S. Army veteran who attained the rank of first lieutenant;
  the executive vice president of Associated General Contractors of
  Texas, he also serves on the Texas Department of Transportation
  2030 Committee, was inducted into the Texas Transportation
  Institute Hall of Honor in 2006, and was named one of America's Top
  100 Private Sector Transportation Design and Construction
  Professionals of the 20th Century by the American Road and
  Transportation Builders Association; and
         WHEREAS, Together, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson share their time and
  resources to support various civic interests, including the Long
  Center for the Performing Arts and the Headliners Club of Austin;
  and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to each other and to their treasured family,
  the couple take great pride in their combined family, which
  includes his children, Thomas L. Johnson, Jr., and Karen A.
  Johnson, her children, Kay Vesely and Phil Patman, as well as Mrs.
  Johnson's three grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, The wedding of Tom and Kathy Johnson marks a
  profound deepening of a relationship that has grown in love,
  respect, and mutual regard with each passing day, and it is truly a
  pleasure to honor this fortunate couple; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas L. Johnson and Katherine P.
  Johnson on their marriage and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Johnson as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
