R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Edward and Margery Grimes of Mineola commemorated |
|
|
their 50th wedding anniversary on May 19, 2008, and they may indeed |
|
|
reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Grimes and the former Margery Norris were joined |
|
|
in matrimony on that special day in 1958 at a ceremony held in |
|
|
Tyler; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured |
|
|
family that includes two sons, Roy and Mark Grimes, two daughters, |
|
|
Karen Webb and Dawn Grimes, as well as nine grandchildren and four |
|
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the couple are |
|
|
congregants of Harvest Acres Baptist Church; Mr. Grimes worked for |
|
|
Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years before his retirement, while |
|
|
Mrs. Grimes retired after 20 years of employment with Southwestern |
|
|
Bell Telephone Company and nine years working for Wal-Mart; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Edward and Margery Grimes on the |
|
|
occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Grimes as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
