R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |
|
at the death of U.S. Army Corporal Javier G. Paredes of San Antonio, |
|
who died in Iraq on September 5, 2007, at the age of 24; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, |
|
3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Javier Paredes was |
|
killed in Baghdad while bravely attempting to rescue a fellow |
|
soldier; trained as a medic, he provided essential care for the |
|
members of his battalion; and |
|
WHEREAS, Corporal Paredes was a former resident of the Hill |
|
Country Youth Ranch in Ingram and a 2002 graduate of Ingram Tom |
|
Moore High School; he worked for a time in construction and as an |
|
employee of Central Market in San Antonio, where he impressed |
|
others with his diligence and his cheerful and caring nature; he |
|
joined the army in 2004 and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star |
|
and the Purple Heart; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. Armed |
|
Forces, Javier Paredes inspired others with his courage, strength, |
|
and compassion; although his death has left a void in the lives of |
|
those who knew him, they may take comfort in their memories of this |
|
admirable and heroic young man who gave his life in service to his |
|
country; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Corporal |
|
Javier G. Paredes and extend sincere sympathy to his many loved ones |
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Javier |
|
G. Paredes. |
