R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, William B. Morrow of Lake Jackson had a long and
  distinguished career with the Brazosport Independent School
  District and continues to enjoy the respect and admiration of area
  citizens; and
         WHEREAS, On April 19, 2009, the football field at Clute
  Intermediate School is being dedicated as Morrow Field in his
  honor, and the Clute City Council has proclaimed April 19 as Coach
  Bill Morrow Day in the community; and
         WHEREAS, Originally from Bay City, Bill Morrow served as a
  member of the U.S. Navy during World War II; he subsequently decided
  to enter the field of education and began his career as a teacher
  and coach at Clute Junior High School in 1952; he later coached
  varsity football at Brazosport High School in Freeport before
  joining Brazoswood High School in Clute in 1970; in total, he guided
  some 2,000 football players through the years; and
         WHEREAS, Coach Morrow had a tremendous impact on his students
  who, along with their families, have been instrumental in seeking
  the dedication of Morrow Field; he fondly recalls his coaching days
  as some of the best in his life, and while he occasionally wonders
  if it would have been easier to work cattle, as his father preferred
  he do, he has been well rewarded by witnessing the maturity and
  success of his former players; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Morrow eventually left coaching to become
  transportation director for the district, in which capacity he
  ensured safe travel for students to and from school and on tours and
  trips across the state; he retired from that position in 1990,
  concluding nearly four decades of service; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman is an exceptional hero to
  his family, including his wife, Maye, a former teacher, his
  daughters, Doris Aldrich and Elizabeth Clark, both of whom have
  joined their parents as educators, and his five grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Coach Morrow has influenced the lives of countless
  Texans with his enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership, and it is
  indeed a pleasure to honor him for his many accomplishments; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Bill Morrow for his outstanding
  contributions to the Brazosport Independent School District and
  commemorate the dedication of Morrow Field in his honor; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Morrow as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
