R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, In 16 years of service as the county attorney of El |
|
|
Paso County, Jose R. Rodriguez has established himself as a |
|
|
concerned and dedicated leader who has made a notable contribution |
|
|
to improving the quality of life in West Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez assumed his duties as county attorney |
|
|
on January 1, 1993, and since that time he has worked to uphold the |
|
|
mission of his office by providing high-quality legal services in |
|
|
an ethical, professional, and capable manner; in addition to |
|
|
representing El Paso County and the hospital district in all legal |
|
|
matters, he prosecutes juvenile crime, family violence protective |
|
|
orders, child abuse and neglect cases, and mental commitments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of George Washington University National |
|
|
Law Center, Mr. Rodriguez began his distinguished legal career as a |
|
|
staff attorney with the United States Department of Housing and |
|
|
Urban Development in Washington, D.C.; he went on to serve as legal |
|
|
advisor to the county judge of El Paso County and as staff attorney |
|
|
and director of the farmworker program of Texas Rural Legal Aid, a |
|
|
statewide program that addresses matters of labor and employment, |
|
|
housing, and civil rights; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez also serves as a board member of the |
|
|
Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund; in all of his |
|
|
endeavors, he is blessed with the support of his wife, Carmen, and |
|
|
his two children; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jose Rodriguez has demonstrated a commitment to |
|
|
seeking justice, securing the protection and safety of his fellow |
|
|
residents, and enhancing the quality of life in El Paso, and his |
|
|
efforts are indeed worthy of praise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Jose R. Rodriguez for his outstanding |
|
|
service as county attorney of El Paso County and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
