R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, America's military veterans hold a revered place in
  the history of this country and in the hearts of their fellow
  citizens, and on November 8, 2008, the people of Keller dedicated a
  memorial to all those from the Keller area who have served on active
  duty in the nation's armed forces; and
         WHEREAS, Several years in the planning, the development of
  this memorial was led by the Keller Rotary Club in conjunction with
  the City of Keller, and the project benefited from the generous
  support of the Greater Keller Women's Club; many private citizens
  and a number of other organizations also contributed to bringing
  this project to fruition; and
         WHEREAS, This imposing monument consists of seven granite
  pillars on which are engraved the names of all known Keller
  veterans, while the central column contains the names of more than
  30 individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice; completing the
  memorial is a large sculpture of an eagle with wings outspread;
  titled "Protector of Freedom" and created by Darrel Davis, the work
  symbolizes the mission of all service personnel and was chosen to
  grace the monument by a vote of Keller residents; and
         WHEREAS, Our nation is fortunate to have sons and daughters
  whose love of country is such that they are willing to risk their
  lives in its service, and it is a privilege to join in recognizing
  these courageous Texans, to whom all Americans owe an immeasurable
  debt of gratitude and remembrance; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of the Keller
  Veterans Memorial and pay profound tribute to the brave and
  steadfast men and women whose names are recorded here for the ages.
