R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Randall J. Hayes is retiring from the Texas Parks |
|
and Wildlife Department in April 2009, drawing to a close a notable |
|
career that has spanned more than three decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes earned his bachelor's degree in biology |
|
from The University of Texas at Arlington, and in 1976 he went to |
|
work with the Arlington Police Department; he graduated from Parks |
|
and Wildlife's Warden Cadet Class in 1984, and since then, except |
|
for two years with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department in |
|
Louisiana, he has been a game warden with TPWD, working in Denton |
|
County, Nueces County, and Parker County; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary service as a game |
|
warden, Mr. Hayes has distinguished himself in his efforts to |
|
protect the wildlife and natural resources of Texas and to ensure |
|
the safety of the public; he has been a certified marine safety |
|
officer instructor, boater/angler/hunter education instructor, and |
|
peace officer classroom instructor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes has been a leader in the enforcement of |
|
boating regulations, and his experience and investigative skills |
|
have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, as well as |
|
numerous awards, including recognition as 2006 Texas Wildlife |
|
Officer of the Year by the conservation organization Shikar Safari |
|
Club International; and |
|
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, he has also |
|
found time to give back to his community by providing hunting and |
|
fishing opportunities for residents of several youth homes, helping |
|
young people learn to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors; and |
|
WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to |
|
excellence of this outstanding Texas game warden have greatly |
|
benefited his fellow citizens, and he may indeed reflect with pride |
|
on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
|
his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Randall J. Hayes on his retirement |
|
from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Hayes as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
