R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
  and shared experiences, and Sam and Glen Rose Shurtleff of Waco
  celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on September 6,
  2007; and
         WHEREAS, Sam H. Shurtleff, Jr., and the former Glen Rose
  Callahan were joined in matrimony in 1947 at a ceremony held in
  Dallas; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured
  family that includes their son, Sam Shurtleff III, and his wife,
  Vickie, as well as their two grandsons, James Glen Shurtleff and
  Robert Allan Shurtleff; and
         WHEREAS, After serving this nation during World War II and
  graduating from Baylor University in 1950, Mr. Shurtleff worked as
  an area salesman for General Foods, retiring in 1979; Mrs.
  Shurtleff attended Baylor and then worked for several federal
  agencies before retiring from the Department of Veterans Affairs in
  1986; together they have been valued members of Western Heights
  Baptist Church in Waco, where they have taught Sunday school for 44
  years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Shurtleff have enjoyed more than six
  decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are
  among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a
  lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Sam and Glen Rose Shurtleff on
  their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shurtleff as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
