R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|
and shared experiences, and Sam and Glen Rose Shurtleff of Waco |
|
celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on September 6, |
|
2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sam H. Shurtleff, Jr., and the former Glen Rose |
|
Callahan were joined in matrimony in 1947 at a ceremony held in |
|
Dallas; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured |
|
family that includes their son, Sam Shurtleff III, and his wife, |
|
Vickie, as well as their two grandsons, James Glen Shurtleff and |
|
Robert Allan Shurtleff; and |
|
WHEREAS, After serving this nation during World War II and |
|
graduating from Baylor University in 1950, Mr. Shurtleff worked as |
|
an area salesman for General Foods, retiring in 1979; Mrs. |
|
Shurtleff attended Baylor and then worked for several federal |
|
agencies before retiring from the Department of Veterans Affairs in |
|
1986; together they have been valued members of Western Heights |
|
Baptist Church in Waco, where they have taught Sunday school for 44 |
|
years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Shurtleff have enjoyed more than six |
|
decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are |
|
among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a |
|
lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sam and Glen Rose Shurtleff on |
|
their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best |
|
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shurtleff as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
