R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Edward and Edna Thompson of Woodway |
|
|
observed the milestone of their 50th wedding anniversary on August |
|
|
24, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were united in matrimony in |
|
|
1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glendora, Michigan; through the |
|
|
years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made |
|
|
even richer with the addition of three children, Steve Thompson and |
|
|
his wife, Sandra, Barbara Thompson-Skolaski, and Ellen Watson and |
|
|
her husband, Wynn, as well as six grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, |
|
|
Scott, Jessica, Kevin, and Sydney; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Hendrix College, Mr. Thompson earned |
|
|
his master's degree from Indiana University and served his country |
|
|
as a member of the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, retiring as a colonel |
|
|
after 38 years; his civilian career as a social worker included a |
|
|
notable tenure with the Veterans Administration; Mrs. Thompson was |
|
|
employed by Singer Sewing Machine Company and has been a devoted |
|
|
homemaker throughout her marriage; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Thompsons are valued members of Peace Lutheran |
|
|
Church, and together they enjoy traveling and spending time with |
|
|
family and friends; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Edward and Edna Thompson on their |
|
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
