R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
  and shared experiences, and George and Dorcas Simpson of Lorena
  celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on September 28,
  2007; and
         WHEREAS, George Simpson attended school in Waco and joined
  the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17; while stationed in Cherry
  Point, North Carolina, he met Dorcas Jordan on a blind date and they
  were joined in matrimony in 1957 at a ceremony held in Huntersville,
  North Carolina; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson have been
  blessed with a treasured family that includes their children and
  their spouses, George, Jr., Sandra and Mark, Linda and Robin, and
  Gladys and Craig; they have been further blessed with their
  grandchildren, Dorcas, Robert, Brandi, Billy, and Jake, and their
  great-grandchild, Kambreigh; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Simpson worked at Island Plastics, Chemical
  Express, and National Freight before starting his own sand and
  gravel hauling business; Mrs. Simpson worked at Island Plastics and
  M&M Mars, and they are members of the Marine Corps League and the
  Marine Corps Auxiliary; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson have enjoyed more than five
  decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are
  among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a
  lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate George and Dorcas Simpson on their
  golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Simpson as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
