R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Since 1964, St. Alcuin Montessori School in Dallas
  has provided many young Texans with outstanding opportunities for
  personal growth and academic enrichment; and
         WHEREAS, Among the largest Montessori schools in North
  America, St. Alcuin was the first institution of its kind in Dallas
  to earn recognition from the Association Montessori Internationale
  and to join the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest,
  and it also led the efforts to create accreditation standards for
  all Montessori schools in Texas; today, this nondenominational and
  coeducational day school serves more than 500 students on its
  12-acre campus; and
         WHEREAS, The lower and elementary schools at St. Alcuin
  Montessori accommodate children from 18 months of age through the
  6th grade, and the curriculum, which is based on Montessori
  principles, focuses on independent learning activities,
  developmental teaching methods, and an environment of mutual
  respect; meanwhile, the St. Alcuin middle school for 7th and 8th
  graders combines the core values of the Montessori approach with
  the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme; encouraged
  to think critically, these pupils are engaged in various subjects,
  including the humanities, language, technology, mathematics, arts,
  and sciences, as well as physical education and interdisciplinary
  studies, and they are taught the importance of personal
  responsibility and compassion for others; and
         WHEREAS, For the past 45 years, St. Alcuin Montessori School
  has helped its students build a solid foundation for their future
  achievement, and it is indeed fitting to recognize the institution
  for its exemplary commitment to education; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor St. Alcuin Montessori School and extend to
  its students, teachers, and administrators sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for St. Alcuin Montessori School as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
