R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc., Junior Knights |
|
|
and Junior Daughters organization is holding its national |
|
|
convention in Houston from July 10 to 13, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving God, church, and community |
|
|
through charitable service, members of this notable group are |
|
|
contributing immeasurably to their fellow citizens; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver junior division is |
|
|
national in scope and strives to meet the interests and needs of its |
|
|
members through spiritual, social, physical, and civic-cultural |
|
|
activities; the goals and objectives are to enhance formal |
|
|
instructional religious training, cultivate poise, and develop |
|
|
physical efficiency, confidence in social situations, and an |
|
|
appreciation of the members' duties as Catholics and as citizens; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Strong support from the church throughout the years |
|
|
has increased the number of junior units nationwide to nearly 400, |
|
|
with more than 2,800 Catholic youths between the ages of 7 and 18 |
|
|
participating; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2009 convention of the Junior Knights and Junior |
|
|
Daughters provides a fitting opportunity to recognize these |
|
|
outstanding young Americans and to wish them well in all of their |
|
|
endeavors; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 National Convention of the |
|
|
Junior Knights and Junior Daughters of the Knights of Peter Claver, |
|
|
Inc., and extend to all participants sincere best wishes for a |
|
|
memorable and meaningful event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
