R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proud residents of Williamson County are gathering
  in Austin on April 28, 2009, to celebrate Williamson County Day at
  the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Among the fastest-growing counties in the nation,
  Williamson County is also home to five of the fastest-growing
  cities, including Hutto, the population of which has increased by
  1,270 percent since 2000; and
         WHEREAS, The county's rapidly expanding health care
  resources include five new or expanded hospitals as well as the new
  Texas A&M Health Science Center; the Texas Life-Sciences
  Collaboration Center in Georgetown is a vital resource for the
  recruitment of emerging biotech, nanotech, and medical device
  companies and is a boon for science classes in the area's public
  schools and universities; and
         WHEREAS, A center for higher education, Williamson County
  boasts the campuses of historic Southwestern University, Texas
  State University-Round Rock Higher Education Center, Austin
  Community College, and the East Williamson County Higher Education
  Center, all of which are growing to meet new demand; and
         WHEREAS, Taylor is home to the Electric Reliability Council
  of Texas, which manages the majority of the Lone Star State's
  electrical grid; the city is also the home of several leading
  companies focusing on the creation of clean, renewable energy; and
         WHEREAS, Leander is preparing for the future with its planned
  Transit Oriented Development and its active participation in the
  completion of the new Capital Metro commuter rail system;
  throughout the county, the transportation infrastructure is being
  increased to accommodate growth and ensure the safety of residents
  and visitors; and
         WHEREAS, Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Georgetown have been
  listed among the best places to live, ride out the recession, launch
  a new business, and retire in America, and the county as a whole is
  among the safest places to live in America, with one of the lowest
  crime rates in the nation; and
         WHEREAS, Williamson County honors its fallen heroes in
  Afghanistan and Iraq with the Nathan Chapman Memorial and with
  generous scholarships and other assistance for the families of
  these brave servicemen and servicewomen; additionally, the county
  and its communities have adopted the Aviation Battalion of the U.S.
  Army 4th Infantry Division and actively support its soldiers and
  their families; and
         WHEREAS, Widely known for the hospitality, concern for
  others, goodwill, and civic engagement of its citizens, Williamson
  County is celebrated for its exceptional quality of life and the
  "can do" spirit of its people, pointing the way to a bright and
  exciting future; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize April 28, 2009, as Williamson County
  Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation
  sincere best wishes for a memorable and meaningful day in Austin.
