R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Robert and Jan Elliott of Belton |
|
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Robert Elliott and the former Jan Lancaster were |
|
|
united in matrimony in Sulphur Springs on that special day in 1959; |
|
|
through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that |
|
|
has been made even richer with the addition of 4 children, Bryan, |
|
|
Beth, Emily, and Nino, as well as 11 grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Elliott served as a preacher for nearly five |
|
|
decades and is retired; Mrs. Elliott is also retired after an |
|
|
outstanding 27-year tenure at Scott & White; residents of the |
|
|
Belton area for 29 years, the couple also lived for 9 years in |
|
|
Italy, where they were missionaries; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert and Jan Elliott on the |
|
|
occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Elliott as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
