R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Jerry and Beth Scoggins of Mineola |
|
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jerry Scoggins and the former Beth Jordan, who had |
|
|
been sweethearts at Garland High School, were wed at Miller Road |
|
|
Baptist Church in Garland in 1959; through the years, they have |
|
|
nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with |
|
|
the addition of 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Melody and Curtis |
|
|
Roberts, Sara and Scott West, and Amy and Matt Reese, as well as 10 |
|
|
grandchildren, Alicia, Adam, Anna, Amy, Thomas, Lee, Alexandra, |
|
|
Alayna, Victoria, and Nathan, and 8 great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Scoggins is retired from Pioneer Natural |
|
|
Resources, while Mrs. Scoggins is a retired legal assistant; they |
|
|
are both members of the First Baptist Church in Mineola, where Mr. |
|
|
Scoggins is employed; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry and Beth Scoggins on their |
|
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Scoggins as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
