R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Morning drive-time radio programs help many Texans |
|
ease into their workday, and for more than 12 years, radio |
|
personalities Dean Myers and Roger Beaty have entertained listeners |
|
in Houston with their Dean and Rog morning show; and |
|
WHEREAS, This pair of high-spirited performers began working |
|
together 20 years ago at a radio station in Saginaw, Michigan, where |
|
their morning show was one of the highest rated in the nation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dean and Rog went on to host shows in Salt Lake City, |
|
Denver, and Phoenix; in 1997, they moved to Houston, where they |
|
hosted the morning show on KKRW for many years; starting on June 1, |
|
2009, they will be performing on KHTC in Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Their daily radio show includes such regular |
|
features as the Birthday Scam, in which listeners request prank |
|
calls to friends on their birthdays, and the Dean and Rog Singers, |
|
who perform song parodies; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dean and Rog also give back to their community |
|
through their annual golf tournament and sale of their yearly "Best |
|
Of" CDs, which together have raised thousands of dollars for |
|
Houston charities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through their good humor and irreverent wit, Dean |
|
Myers and Roger Beaty have helped Houstonians start their day in |
|
good spirits for more than a decade; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize June 1, 2009, as Dean and Rog Day and |
|
extend to Dean Myers and Roger Beaty sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Myers and Mr. Beaty as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
