R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Joan Richardson, Michael Megna, and Michael |
|
Shriner of The University of Texas Medical Branch are being honored |
|
by the 2009 Friends of Scouting Campaign for their contributions in |
|
developing the UTMB preparedness plan in advance of Hurricane Ike; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Facilities planning administrator and institutional |
|
emergency preparedness officer Michael Megna, institutional |
|
emergency preparedness officer Dr. Joan Richardson, and vice |
|
president for facilities and campus services Michael Shriner each |
|
brought a wealth of experience and dedication to this vital |
|
initiative; and |
|
WHEREAS, True models of the Boy Scout motto "Be Prepared," |
|
these notable Texans worked diligently to create a comprehensive |
|
plan in the days leading up to Hurricane Ike, and their exceptional |
|
efforts not only enabled the institution to restore many of its |
|
vital services much more quickly after the hurricane than |
|
anticipated, but also helped to avert any loss of life; and |
|
WHEREAS, Times of great crisis often inspire noteworthy |
|
actions, and Hurricane Ike proved to be no exception, as evidenced |
|
by the laudable work of Dr. Richardson, Mr. Megna, and Mr. Shriner; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Dr. Joan Richardson, Michael Megna, and |
|
Michael Shriner of The University of Texas Medical Branch for their |
|
efforts in developing the institution's preparedness plan for |
|
Hurricane Ike and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success with their important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Richardson, Mr. Megna, and Mr. Shriner as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
