R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Brigitte Rogers of Sonora has worked tirelessly in
  behalf of senior citizens of the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Beuthen, Germany, and raised in Berlin, Ms.
  Rogers subsequently moved to Dallas and in 1992 relocated to
  Sonora; and
         WHEREAS, Long interested in issues affecting older citizens,
  Ms. Rogers has served in the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature since
  2002; the author of numerous resolutions, she has chaired the
  retirement and aging committee and presently serves on the
  rural-urban and communications committees; she is also a member of
  the National Silver Haired Congress and a lifetime member of the
  National Council of Silver Haired Legislators; and
         WHEREAS, In the course of her career as an advocate, Ms.
  Rogers has assisted in securing a freeze, in five cities and four
  counties, on property taxes levied on elderly and disabled persons
  with homesteads; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly 15 years, Ms. Rogers has served as a
  Health Information Counseling and Advocacy Program volunteer
  certified benefits counselor, working in conjunction with the
  Concho Valley Area Agency on Aging; she has also helped lead the
  Sutton County Committee on Aging and served as a volunteer manager
  for Sutton County Lifeline; moreover, she is a member of the Concho
  Valley Regional Advisory Committee on Aging and a member of the
  Retired Senior Volunteer Program; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has been deeply involved as well
  in Lions Clubs International; a member of the Sonora Downtown Lions
  Club and an associate member of the San Angelo Concho Pearl Lions
  Club, she has served as district chair for a number of committees
  and as president of the Western Texas Lions Eye Bank Alliance Board
  of Directors; and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of her extensive good works, Ms.
  Rogers has been inducted into the Concho Valley Senior Hall of Fame,
  honored by the president of Lions Clubs International with the
  Distinguished Leadership Medal, and named the recipient of numerous
  other accolades; and
         WHEREAS, Brigitte Rogers exemplifies the highest standard of
  civic engagement, and her staunch advocacy for senior citizens and
  other worthy causes has touched the lives of countless fellow
  Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Brigitte Rogers for her service as a
  member of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature and for her other
  outstanding community contributions and that she be extended
  sincere best wishes for continued success in all of her endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Rogers as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
