R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, L. D. and Barbara Parsons of Waco
  celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 28, 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Parsons were united in matrimony in
  Mississippi in 1943; through the years, they have nurtured a
  fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
  addition of two children, Merle Parsons and his wife, Barbara, and
  Vickie Gibbs and her husband, Tommy, as well as five grandchildren
  and six great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Parsons answered his nation's call to duty with
  service in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from
  Sinclair-Arco in 1985; Mrs. Parsons is a homemaker; and
         WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past 65
  years, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in
  their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has
  enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace
  and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate L. D. and Barbara Parsons on their
  65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Parsons as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
