R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned three |
|
|
decades, David and Lisa Doherty of Houston are celebrating their |
|
|
30th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The couple met and fell in love while attending The |
|
|
University of Texas at Austin, where they were both pursuing |
|
|
degrees in business; David Booty Doherty and the former Lisa Anne |
|
|
Michalka exchanged the vows of matrimony at St. Anne Catholic |
|
|
Church in Beaumont on that special day in 1979, and over the course |
|
|
of their marriage, they have found in each other a devoted life |
|
|
partner; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, They count among their blessings a fine family that |
|
|
includes two beloved children, David and Lawrence, with whom they |
|
|
treasure sharing the many special occasions of life; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Doherty was employed with Texas Commerce Bank |
|
|
and now owns Crawford-Doherty Capital Management; the former owner |
|
|
of a decorating store, Mrs. Doherty currently teaches kindergarten |
|
|
and has worked with local arts organizations, including the Janie |
|
|
C. Lee Gallery and the Houston Museum of Natural Science; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to contributing to their community on a |
|
|
professional level, the couple take an active role in civic affairs |
|
|
as members of the Houston Society, the Houston City Club, and St. |
|
|
Anne Catholic Church, and Mr. Doherty serves as board chair for the |
|
|
CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Looking back over the past three decades, David and |
|
|
Lisa Doherty can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and |
|
|
know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that |
|
|
many more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate David and Lisa Doherty on their |
|
|
30th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Doherty as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
