R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Kerrville Performing Arts Society is
  celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding on October 12,
  2008, with the opening of its 2008-2009 Silver Anniversary Season;
  and
         WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 1984, this exceptional
  group has striven to fulfill its mission of promoting and
  presenting professional-level performing arts, providing outreach
  workshops to area schools and organizations, and offering
  scholarships to students pursuing higher education in the
  performing arts; and
         WHEREAS, To that end, KPAS sponsors a concert series that has
  grown to include 15 performances in the 2008-2009 season, as well as
  the Hill Country Youth Orchestra program, which serves more than
  100 students; in addition, the organization offers $7,500 in
  scholarships each year and invites 4,500 students to attend
  concerts at no charge; and
         WHEREAS, The contributions made by KPAS have been rewarded
  through the years with grants from Mid-America Arts Alliance, the
  City of Kerrville, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Texas
  Commission on the Arts, and the Community Foundation of the Texas
  Hill Country; the group's efforts have been further recognized by
  the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce, which named it the
  Outstanding Non-Profit Organization of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to fostering a greater appreciation of the
  arts in Central Texas, KPAS has enriched the life of the community
  for a quarter-century and continues to open new vistas of
  possibility and opportunity for countless area citizens; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the
  Kerrville Performing Arts Society and extend sincere best wishes
  for continued success to all those associated with this notable
  organization; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for KPAS as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
