R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The sixth grade Texas and American history and |
|
government class from St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Houston is |
|
visiting the State Capitol on May 6, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1971 as Palmer Montessori School, St. |
|
Stephen's Episcopal School Houston initially served children aged |
|
three to six years old; in 1992 a middle school was added, and six |
|
years later the institution established the first Montessori |
|
college-preparatory high school in the city; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, the educators and administrators |
|
of St. Stephen's Episcopal School have provided their students with |
|
a solid foundation of academic excellence on which to build, as well |
|
as the confidence and knowledge they need to make creative and |
|
productive decisions and to contribute positively to their society; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Joining us today are teacher Nahla Nassar and her |
|
class, which includes Faris Al-Barghouthi, Tony Bynum, Chloe |
|
Chimney, Fiona Clark, Sici Dias, Caisa Doyle, Sora Hasegawa, Mary |
|
Lewis, Melissa Martin, Costa Miner, Raul Ramos, and Abdul Aldobaie; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, With the 81st Legislative Session well under way, |
|
the Capitol Complex is a source of great activity, offering |
|
visitors an excellent opportunity to see their state government in |
|
action firsthand; and |
|
WHEREAS, The State Capitol is an ideal setting for young and |
|
old alike to discover the rich heritage of the Lone Star State and |
|
to gain insight into the workings of the state legislature, and it |
|
is a pleasure to recognize today's visitors from St. Stephen's |
|
Episcopal School in Houston; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby welcome students and sponsors from St. Stephen's |
|
Episcopal School and commend them on their interest in state |
|
government; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the St. Stephen's Episcopal School delegation as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
