R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Bobby and Betty Chastain of Waco |
|
|
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Chastain were united in matrimony in |
|
|
Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1948; through the years, they have |
|
|
nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with |
|
|
the addition of a daughter, Teresa, and her husband, Evan, a |
|
|
grandson, Josh, and a great-granddaughter, Lauren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Chastain is a survivor |
|
|
of the U.S.S. Johnston (DD-557), a destroyer that was sunk during |
|
|
the Battle of Leyte Gulf; this courageous Texan went on to serve |
|
|
this nation in the Korean War as well; after leaving the service, he |
|
|
graduated from Baylor University and worked with Hercules before |
|
|
his retirement; Mrs. Chastain has been a volunteer with the fine |
|
|
arts division of the Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo for the past 40 |
|
|
years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past six |
|
|
decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in |
|
|
their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has |
|
|
enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace |
|
|
and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bobby and Betty Chastain on their |
|
|
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Chastain as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
