R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Bobby and Betty Chastain of Waco
  celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Chastain were united in matrimony in
  Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1948; through the years, they have
  nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with
  the addition of a daughter, Teresa, and her husband, Evan, a
  grandson, Josh, and a great-granddaughter, Lauren; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Chastain is a survivor
  of the U.S.S. Johnston (DD-557), a destroyer that was sunk during
  the Battle of Leyte Gulf; this courageous Texan went on to serve
  this nation in the Korean War as well; after leaving the service, he
  graduated from Baylor University and worked with Hercules before
  his retirement; Mrs. Chastain has been a volunteer with the fine
  arts division of the Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo for the past 40
  years; and
         WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past six
  decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in
  their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has
  enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace
  and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Bobby and Betty Chastain on their
  60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Chastain as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
