R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Wade and Martha Colbert of Waco are
  celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary on May 27, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Colbert were united in matrimony at the
  bride's parents' home in Waco on that special day in 1950; through
  the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been
  made even richer with the addition of three children and their
  spouses, Liz Sanders and her husband, Bill, Ron Colbert and his
  wife, Jane, and Martha Sue Colbert-Hall and her husband, Arthur, as
  well as three grandchildren, Barbara, Lacy, and Jennifer, and four
  great-grandchildren, Krista, Kaleb, Bradley, and Bayleigh; and
         WHEREAS, A Baylor graduate, Mr. Colbert answered his nation's
  call to duty by serving in the Philippines with the U.S. Division of
  Occupational Forces during World War II and retired from work
  within the United States government in 1979; Mrs. Colbert devoted
  her attentions to raising her family while her children were young
  and then worked as assistant to the chaplain at Hillcrest Hospital
  and retired from Connally-Compton Funeral Home in 2006; the couple
  are longtime active members at Seventh & James Baptist Church in
  Waco; and
         WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past six
  decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in
  their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has
  enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace
  and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Wade and Martha Colbert on the
  occasion of their 59th wedding anniversary and extend to them
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Colbert as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
