R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Fidel and Manuela Nuņez of Houston celebrated their |
|
58th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2009, and they may indeed |
|
reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez met in 1949 at a festival in |
|
Tahoka, when Mr. Nuņez asked his future wife to dance; after a |
|
two-year courtship, they exchanged their wedding vows on that |
|
special day in 1951, at a ceremony held in Edinburg; they moved to |
|
Houston that same year and built a home where they continue to live |
|
today; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez have shared a |
|
fulfilling marriage; they are the parents of 7 beloved children, |
|
Francisco, Arcilia, Joe, Ruben, Delores, Yolanda, and the late |
|
Robert Nuņez, and have delighted in the addition of 12 |
|
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren to their family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Nuņez drove a bus for the Houston Independent |
|
School District and was a beautician; Mr. Nuņez was a U.S. Navy Seal |
|
during World War II and retired after three decades of employment |
|
with the City of Houston; the couple volunteer with their church and |
|
community and take pleasure in camping, taking walks in the park, |
|
and traveling; and |
|
WHEREAS, The 58 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez have |
|
shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and |
|
commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who |
|
know them; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Fidel and Manuela Nuņez on their |
|
58th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
