R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Fidel and Manuela Nuņez of Houston celebrated their
  58th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2009, and they may indeed
  reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez met in 1949 at a festival in
  Tahoka, when Mr. Nuņez asked his future wife to dance; after a
  two-year courtship, they exchanged their wedding vows on that
  special day in 1951, at a ceremony held in Edinburg; they moved to
  Houston that same year and built a home where they continue to live
  today; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez have shared a
  fulfilling marriage; they are the parents of 7 beloved children,
  Francisco, Arcilia, Joe, Ruben, Delores, Yolanda, and the late
  Robert Nuņez, and have delighted in the addition of 12
  grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren to their family; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Nuņez drove a bus for the Houston Independent
  School District and was a beautician; Mr. Nuņez was a U.S. Navy Seal
  during World War II and retired after three decades of employment
  with the City of Houston; the couple volunteer with their church and
  community and take pleasure in camping, taking walks in the park,
  and traveling; and
         WHEREAS, The 58 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez have
  shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and
  commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who
  know them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Fidel and Manuela Nuņez on their
  58th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Nuņez as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
