R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Mills County Goat and BBQ Cook-off in
  Goldthwaite is a highly anticipated competition that each year
  draws an impressive lineup of skilled cooks and crowds of barbecue
  enthusiasts; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mills County Chamber of Commerce,
  the cook-off focuses on the preparation of barbecue goat, which
  pays tribute to the county's importance to the state's goat ranching
  industry; moreover, prizes are awarded in other categories,
  including brisket, pork spare ribs, chicken, and beans; and
         WHEREAS, This fun and festive event features a range of
  enjoyable activities in addition to the barbecue competition,
  including a car show, craft exhibits, a Friday night dance, live
  entertainment, and the ever popular best-dressed goat contest; and
         WHEREAS, A beloved community gathering, the Mills County Goat
  and BBQ Cook-off enjoys the support of local organizations such as
  the Lions Club, 4-H, and the Friends of the Library, and proceeds
  from the event fund the annual Easter egg hunt organized by the
  chamber of commerce; and
         WHEREAS, For more than a decade, the Mills County Goat and BBQ
  Cook-off has played a notable role in enhancing the Lone Star
  State's reputation for barbecue excellence, and it is indeed
  fitting that this annual tradition be accorded special recognition;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the Mills County Goat and BBQ Cook-off
  as an official Texas State Goat Barbecue Championship Cook-off.
