R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Breanna Lewis was honored for her achievements at |
|
|
the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18, 2009; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |
|
|
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|
|
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|
|
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|
|
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|
|
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A most deserving recipient of this honor, Ms. Lewis |
|
|
is the daughter of Irene Lewis and the Reverend Eddie R. Lewis, Jr., |
|
|
and she is a member of First Macedonia Baptist Church, where her |
|
|
father serves as pastor; Ms. Lewis is a senior and an honor roll |
|
|
student at North Shore Senior High School, and she plans to study |
|
|
theater and broadcast journalism at Ohio State University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|
|
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|
|
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |
|
|
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Breanna Lewis on her receipt of a |
|
|
2009 Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship and extend to her sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success in all of her endeavors; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Lewis as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
