R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, In 2009, Valero Energy Corporation was ranked No. 10 |
|
|
on the Fortune 500, the list of America's largest companies |
|
|
published annually by Fortune magazine; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This San Antonio-based company is the biggest |
|
|
refiner in North America, with 16 refineries located throughout the |
|
|
United States, Canada, and the Caribbean, as well as nearly 6,000 |
|
|
retail and branded wholesale outlets; in 2008, Valero's revenues |
|
|
exceeded $118 billion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Skillfully led by CEO William R. Klesse, the |
|
|
corporation provides jobs for approximately 22,000 employees, and |
|
|
in 2007 it was recognized by Fortune as No. 1 on the magazine's list |
|
|
of the "Best Big Companies to Work For"; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An independent business that employs Texans, Valero |
|
|
is contributing to the overall economic prosperity of the Lone Star |
|
|
State, and its officers and employees may indeed reflect with great |
|
|
pride on their company's notable achievements; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Valero Energy Corporation on its |
|
|
inclusion in the 2009 Fortune 500 list of America's largest |
|
|
companies and extend to all those associated with the business |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Valero as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
