R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of the Lone Star State are gathering in |
|
|
support of U.S. soldiers at the Bands for Brothers and Sisters |
|
|
Concert on May 23, 2009, in Pasadena; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Hosted by the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, |
|
|
the Bay Area Builders Association, the Pasadena Livestock Show and |
|
|
Rodeo, and KILT-FM, the event raises funds for the construction of |
|
|
homes for severely wounded service members returning from Iraq and |
|
|
Afghanistan; in addition to the concert, the weekend festivities |
|
|
include a golf tournament and a black-tie benefit; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The organizations behind this significant effort |
|
|
have created a partnership with government agencies, |
|
|
manufacturers, private donors, businesses, and volunteers to offer |
|
|
housing at no cost to injured American soldiers; the goals of the |
|
|
program are to lessen the financial burden for military personnel, |
|
|
aid in their recovery, and provide a home for their families; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Our nation's servicemen and servicewomen render |
|
|
service and sacrifice that are truly beyond measure, and such |
|
|
events as the Bands for Brothers and Sisters Concert help to ensure |
|
|
that these brave Americans are duly honored and supported by their |
|
|
communities; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 Bands for Brothers and |
|
|
Sisters Concert and extend to its organizers and attendees sincere |
|
|
best wishes for a memorable and successful event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the host organizations as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
