R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Zapata High School senior Alexandra M. Harsacky has |
|
been named the 2009 Youth of the Year by the U.S. Border Patrol; and |
|
WHEREAS, Selected from among those students recognized as |
|
Youth of the Month during the 2008-2009 school year, Ms. Harsacky |
|
was the October recipient of that honor; currently ranked first in |
|
her senior class, she has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to |
|
excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and community |
|
service; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Frank and Maria Harsacky, |
|
Ms. Harsacky has for three years been a member of the student |
|
council and the National Honor Society, which she has also served as |
|
president; she has represented her school at Girls State and as |
|
captain or co-captain of the ZHS University Interscholastic League |
|
social studies, accounting, mathematics, and cross-examination |
|
debate teams; and |
|
WHEREAS, Equally impressive is Ms. Harsacky's dedication to |
|
helping others in her community; she has volunteered with the Boys |
|
and Girls Clubs of America, the public library, and a local nursing |
|
home, in addition to aiding her fellow students as a tutor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Alexandra Harsacky's accomplishments, both inside |
|
and outside the classroom, are a source of great pride to her family |
|
and friends, and she may indeed look forward to a future bright with |
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Alexandra M. Harsacky on being |
|
named the 2009 U.S. Border Patrol Youth of the Year for Zapata High |
|
School and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
achievement; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Harsacky as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
