R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Richardson High School Law Magnet program is |
|
providing students with a strong foundation on which to build; and |
|
WHEREAS, Utilizing an interdisciplinary curriculum based in |
|
theoretical research and its application, field experiences, and |
|
technology skills, the RHS Law Magnet program offers a rigorous |
|
course of study; students are not only equipped with legal |
|
knowledge and skills, but also with an understanding of the |
|
fundamental principles and values that characterize the American |
|
legal system; the school features an extensive law library, which |
|
supports the research and writing component of the program; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active learning opportunities include mock trials, |
|
field trips to law-related settings, and community service, and |
|
students can pursue pertinent internships; those selected to join |
|
the mock trial team, known as the Legal Eagles, learn how to bring a |
|
case to court and attend competitions throughout the state; law |
|
magnet students can further benefit by participating in the Law |
|
Review, a social group that promotes school spirit, interest in the |
|
legal professions, and camaraderie; and |
|
WHEREAS, The continuing vitality of the legal profession in |
|
Texas depends in large part on the enthusiasm of young people for |
|
the study of the law and the pursuit of justice, and the Richardson |
|
High School Law Magnet program is helping to prepare young people |
|
who are dedicated to participating in our constitutional democracy; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the Richardson High School Law Magnet |
|
program and extend to all those associated with it sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Richardson High School Law Magnet program as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
