R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Brittany Taylor was honored for her achievements at |
|
|
the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18, 2009; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |
|
|
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|
|
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|
|
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|
|
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|
|
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Brittany Taylor is the daughter of Regina Miller; |
|
|
she is an 11th-grade student at the High School for the Performing |
|
|
and Visual Arts and a member of Freewill Baptist Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This talented singer and performer has played |
|
|
leading roles on stage and earned first place in solo ensemble, and |
|
|
she served as president of the girls' chorus in middle school; she |
|
|
is presently a member of the Leadership Office and Training Corps |
|
|
and is looking forward to attending college; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|
|
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|
|
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |
|
|
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Brittany Taylor on being named a |
|
|
2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon |
|
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all |
|
|
of her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Taylor as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
