R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sadie Chrisasia Brown was honored for her |
|
|
achievements at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on |
|
|
April 18, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |
|
|
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|
|
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|
|
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|
|
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|
|
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sadie Brown is the daughter of Aubrey and Tabatha |
|
|
Cruse; she is a ninth-grade student at Barbara Jordan High School |
|
|
for Careers and a member of the Tabernacle of Praise Family Worship |
|
|
Center, where she is a member of the youth praise team; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Brown has earned accolades for her exceptional |
|
|
performance in math, reading, history, and choir, and she was named |
|
|
salutatorian of her eighth-grade class; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|
|
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|
|
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |
|
|
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sadie Chrisasia Brown on being |
|
|
named a 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship |
|
|
Luncheon and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success in all of her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
