R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Skyler K. Reynolds of Houston was honored for her |
|
|
achievements at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on |
|
|
April 18, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |
|
|
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|
|
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|
|
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|
|
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|
|
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A most deserving recipient of this award, Ms. |
|
|
Reynolds is the daughter of Frank and Felita Reynolds and a member |
|
|
of New Spirit of Life Missionary Baptist Church; she is graduating |
|
|
with honors from Booker T. Washington High School for the |
|
|
Engineering Professions and plans to attend Texas A&M University, |
|
|
where she intends to work toward a career as a registered pediatric |
|
|
nurse; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|
|
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|
|
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |
|
|
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Skyler K. Reynolds on her receipt |
|
|
of a 2009 Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in all of her endeavors; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
