R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Amy Hobbie has been selected as the 2008-2009
  Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Association of Texas
  Professional Educators; and
         WHEREAS, This accolade pays tribute to teachers who use
  innovative methods in the classroom and demonstrate an exceptional
  commitment to their students; a truly deserving recipient, Ms.
  Hobbie is a history instructor at the Crowley Learning Center,
  where she is respected for her efforts to reach students of all
  learning abilities; she employs a variety of original approaches,
  including roundtable discussions and model-building; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hobbie was inspired to become an educator during
  her years as a member of the PTA; volunteering in the classrooms of
  her twin sons, she realized that she could be of even greater
  service to area schoolchildren as a teacher; and
         WHEREAS, Amy Hobbie has since contributed to the Crowley
  Learning Center with leadership, compassion, and creativity, and
  she stands as an inspiring example of how one person's commitment to
  the education of young people can make a positive and lasting
  difference to the community as a whole; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Amy Hobbie on her selection as the
  2008-2009 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Association of Texas
  Professional Educators and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success with her important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hobbie as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
