| WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Jason | ||
| Lee Hightower of Winnsboro, who died on March 20, 2009, at the age | ||
| of 37; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Jason Hightower was born in Huntsville on March 30, | ||
| 1971, to Don and Patricia Hightower; he was a graduate of Winnsboro | ||
| High School and Texas A&M University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A broadcaster from the age of 16, Mr. Hightower went | ||
| on to buy radio station KMOO in Mineola in 1998; he was committed to | ||
| the idea of a locally owned and operated radio station that was | ||
| engaged with its community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hightower was also actively engaged in civic | ||
| affairs, serving as the master of ceremonies for many local events, | ||
| including chamber of commerce banquets, spelling bees, and hay | ||
| shows; he served on the boards of the Wood County Junior Livestock | ||
| Market Show, Mineola Development, Inc., and the Brazos Valley | ||
| chapter of the American Heart Association, and he had served as | ||
| board chair for the Texas Association of Broadcasters and as board | ||
| president for the Brazos Valley Food Bank; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This caring gentleman also participated in the | ||
| Children's Miracle Network fund-raiser and served on the CMN | ||
| advisory board for Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics; he | ||
| was the Radio MASH event director and community liaison for the | ||
| annual toy drive in Bryan-College Station, and he was a member of | ||
| the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Quitman; | ||
| moreover, he was recognized as the 2009 Humanitarian of the Year by | ||
| the Mineola Area Chamber of Commerce; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Jason Hightower | ||
| dedicated himself to his family and his community, and though his | ||
| life ended far too soon, the memory of his generosity and enthusiasm | ||
| will forever occupy a treasured place in the hearts of those who | ||
| knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jason Lee Hightower | ||
| and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his | ||
| wife, Ingrid Hightower; to his children, Brazos, Wyatt, and Halee | ||
| Grace Hightower; to his parents, Don and Patricia Hightower; to his | ||
| grandparents, Dorothea Hightower and Horace Ray and Thelma Lewis; | ||
| to his sister, Amy Hightower; to his sisters-in-law, Erricka Walton | ||
| and Aleasha Smith; to his mother- and father-in-law, Hans and Karen | ||
| Hansen; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jason Lee | ||
| Hightower. | ||
