R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, LaDaJa Woodfork was honored for her achievements at |
|
the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18, 2009; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |
|
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, LaDaJa Woodfork is the daughter of Larry and |
|
LaTrenda Woodfork; she is a fifth-grade honor roll student with |
|
perfect attendance at M. W. Dogan Elementary School and |
|
participates in the Imagine Project, which is part of the National |
|
Center for Early Academic Greatness Young Scholars Program; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Woodfork is a member of several organizations |
|
affiliated with the Imagine Project and also devotes time to the |
|
school cheerleading team and to activities at Power House Church of |
|
God in Christ; and |
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |
|
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate LaDaJa Woodfork on being named a |
|
2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon |
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all |
|
of her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Woodfork as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
