R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Arthur A. Davis III was honored for his achievements
  at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18,
  2009; and
         WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have
  distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic
  involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith
  Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist
  Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at
  the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund;
  and
         WHEREAS, Arthur Davis attends Pearland Junior High School,
  where he is in the eighth grade; his extracurricular activities
  include playing the saxophone and running track, a sport he pursues
  as a member of both his school team and the Texas Storm Track Club;
  Mr. Davis has previously been recognized by the Texas Storm Track
  Club and also by the Houston Youth Program for Enrichment; he
  attends Crossroads Community Church and is the son of Arthur and
  Bernadette Davis, who take great pride in his many achievements;
  and
         WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of his
  community and a source of tremendous pride to his family and
  teachers, and he may indeed look with anticipation and optimism
  toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Arthur A. Davis III on being named
  a 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all
  of his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
