R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Verna Trammel has been named a 2009 Unsung Hero by |
|
|
the Galveston County Daily News for her outstanding contributions |
|
|
to her community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to bringing joy to those in need, Mrs. |
|
|
Trammel crochets lap blankets for the wheelchair-bound, caps for |
|
|
cancer patients, and afghans for friends; she lovingly creates |
|
|
hundreds of items each year, working to make them colorful and |
|
|
presenting them personally; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Wichita Falls, she has made her home in |
|
|
Hitchcock for six decades; at the age of 83, she still drives, |
|
|
visits nursing homes, and volunteers at the Sunshine Shop, which |
|
|
she managed for 13 years before retiring two years ago; in her free |
|
|
time, she enjoys growing flowers in her yard and working with her |
|
|
hands; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their |
|
|
time with others are indeed deserving of our profound gratitude, |
|
|
and it is a pleasure to honor Verna Trammel, who has enriched the |
|
|
lives of countless Gulf Coast residents with her dedicated |
|
|
community service; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Verna Trammel on being named a 2009 |
|
|
Unsung Hero by the Galveston County Daily News and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Trammel as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
