R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Marcus Edward Puckett of Boy Scouts of America Troop |
|
|
No. 468 in Friendswood has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and |
|
|
this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |
|
|
honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|
|
scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|
|
criteria, Mr. Puckett earned the requisite 21 merit badges and |
|
|
successfully completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his |
|
|
community; he organized and led an effort to paint several rooms and |
|
|
the exterior rails of his high school; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Marshall and Linda Puckett, this fine |
|
|
young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |
|
|
throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration |
|
|
of his fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that |
|
|
scouting offers; he has been an assistant patrol leader, |
|
|
quartermaster, and chaplain; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Puckett is a senior at Pasadena High School, |
|
|
where he is a member of the football, swimming, and bowling teams; |
|
|
he is active with the student council, the jazz band, and the speech |
|
|
and debate team, and he represented the school at Texas Boys State |
|
|
in 2008; he has been recognized with the Pasadena High School |
|
|
Vanguard Award, and he is a National Hispanic Recognized Scholar; |
|
|
he holds a first degree black belt in the Korean martial art of Kuk |
|
|
Sool Won; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Puckett's dedication to excellence and |
|
|
his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy |
|
|
to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
|
pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Marcus Edward Puckett on achieving |
|
|
the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Puckett as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
