R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Three Rivers High School Bulldogs football team
  enjoyed a highly successful 2008 regular season, finishing in
  second place in District 31-2A and earning a berth in the state
  championship playoffs; and
         WHEREAS, Posting an overall record of eight wins and one loss
  and going 5-1 in district competition, Three Rivers proved itself
  one of the finest 2A teams in South Texas; highlights of the 2008
  campaign included a 16-13 victory over Dilley High School, the
  preseason district favorite, and a 33-13 win over Cotulla High
  School to clinch a spot in the playoffs; and
         WHEREAS, The Bulldogs faced off against George West High
  School for the district championship in the regular season finale
  on November 7, with the two squads carrying matching undefeated
  records into the game; in a spirited contest that lived up to its
  advance billing, Three Rivers lost by a score of 28-17 to finish the
  season as the district runner-up; and
         WHEREAS, Led by head coach Eddie Hesseltine, these talented
  and dedicated student-athletes are a source of great pride to their
  many supporters in the local community, and their outstanding
  performance on the gridiron is indeed deserving of special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Three Rivers High School
  Bulldogs football team on its successful 2008 season and extend
  sincere best wishes to the players, coaches, and staff for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
