R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Three Rivers High School Bulldogs football team |
|
enjoyed a highly successful 2008 regular season, finishing in |
|
second place in District 31-2A and earning a berth in the state |
|
championship playoffs; and |
|
WHEREAS, Posting an overall record of eight wins and one loss |
|
and going 5-1 in district competition, Three Rivers proved itself |
|
one of the finest 2A teams in South Texas; highlights of the 2008 |
|
campaign included a 16-13 victory over Dilley High School, the |
|
preseason district favorite, and a 33-13 win over Cotulla High |
|
School to clinch a spot in the playoffs; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Bulldogs faced off against George West High |
|
School for the district championship in the regular season finale |
|
on November 7, with the two squads carrying matching undefeated |
|
records into the game; in a spirited contest that lived up to its |
|
advance billing, Three Rivers lost by a score of 28-17 to finish the |
|
season as the district runner-up; and |
|
WHEREAS, Led by head coach Eddie Hesseltine, these talented |
|
and dedicated student-athletes are a source of great pride to their |
|
many supporters in the local community, and their outstanding |
|
performance on the gridiron is indeed deserving of special |
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Three Rivers High School |
|
Bulldogs football team on its successful 2008 season and extend |
|
sincere best wishes to the players, coaches, and staff for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
