R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Marc Helkey of John Paul Stevens High School in San |
|
|
Antonio has been named the 2009 Boys Soccer Coach of the Year by the |
|
|
San Antonio Express-News; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Coach Helkey has guided the Stevens Falcons for |
|
|
three years, having first taken the helm for the team's first year |
|
|
of varsity competition in 2006-2007; that season, Stevens had a |
|
|
successful debut and came very close to qualifying for the |
|
|
playoffs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After struggling in their second year, the Falcons |
|
|
enjoyed a resurgence during the 2008-2009 season; drawing on Coach |
|
|
Helkey's expertise, the team captured the District 28-5A |
|
|
championship and went on to claim a victory in the postseason; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Exceptional coaches inspire athletes to perform at |
|
|
the peak of their abilities, and Marc Helkey's commitment to |
|
|
excellence indeed makes him a most deserving recipient of this |
|
|
award; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Marc Helkey on being named 2009 |
|
|
Boys Soccer Coach of the Year by the San Antonio Express-News and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Coach Helkey as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
