R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Those young people who give of their time and
  talents to assist in the demanding work of the Texas Legislature are
  truly deserving of our gratitude and admiration, and Leslie Weston
  is one such individual; and
         WHEREAS, Originally from Louisiana, Ms. Weston has served as
  a legislative aide in the office of State Representative Elliott
  Naishtat from January through May 2009, and her commitment,
  dedication, and cheerful disposition have been greatly appreciated
  by her colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Weston's expertise in the area of health and
  human services has been particularly valuable to both
  Representative Naishtat's staff and his constituents, and in
  assisting citizens with questions relating to these areas, she has
  seen firsthand the ability of public officials to have an impact on
  policy; moreover, she has learned more than she thought possible
  about state schools, board and care homes, child care licensing,
  and other human services-related issues as she followed the House
  Committee on Human Services and prepared for Representative
  Naishtat analyses of every bill considered by the committee; and
         WHEREAS, Going above and beyond the call of duty, Ms. Weston
  has often stayed late into the night, preparing the
  representative's committee notebook and shepherding legislation to
  establish the Legislative Committee on Aging; she has further
  distinguished herself through her work on Representative
  Naishtat's legislation regarding access to electronic educational
  materials for blind and visually impaired students, social worker
  practice issues, and increasing access to higher education through
  Americorps, and she has learned a considerable amount about floor
  amendments; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Weston is a graduate student in the Master of
  Social Work Program at The University of Texas at Austin, and her
  knowledge and understanding of the inner workings of the Texas
  Legislature and the legislative process will surely serve her well
  as she prepares to enter the arena of macro social work; although
  her coworkers, most especially the legislative director, are sorry
  to see her tenure end, they share in her excitement as she prepares
  to embark on a future that is bright with promise; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Leslie Weston for her outstanding service
  as a legislative aide and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Weston as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
