R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close when Richard A. Bode of Plano passed away on May 1, 2009, at
  the age of 77; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Marmion Academy in Aurora, Illinois,
  Dick Bode attended Loris College in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated
  from DePaul University; and
         WHEREAS, After retiring from professional life, Mr. Bode
  dedicated himself to public service in the city of Plano, where he
  was a member of the Plano City Council from 1990 to 2000 and mayor
  pro tem from 1996 to 2000; and
         WHEREAS, This caring gentleman was also a member of the
  Leadership Committee of John Paul II High School in Plano, and he
  devoted much time and energy to the Hope's Door women's shelter and
  the Collin County Adult Clinic; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, he enjoyed 46 years of
  marriage to the love of his life, Marge Bode, and together they
  shared in raising five children and in welcoming seven
  grandchildren into their family; and
         WHEREAS, The loss of this esteemed Texan is keenly felt by the
  numerous friends that he made through the years as well as by the
  many people in Plano and beyond who will forever find inspiration in
  his generosity, integrity, and kindness; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard A. Bode and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Marge Bode; to his daughters, Anne Kuldanek and her husband,
  Ken, Julie Anderson and her husband, Ty, Ellen Hayes and her
  husband, Brian, and Molly Brown and her husband, Ryan; to his son,
  John Bode, and his wife, Nichole; to his grandchildren, Meg, Kevin,
  and Scotty Anderson, Gabbie Bode, and Abbey, Eilee, and Molly
  Hayes; to his sister, Anita Quinn; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dick Bode.
