R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|
a close when Richard A. Bode of Plano passed away on May 1, 2009, at |
|
the age of 77; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Marmion Academy in Aurora, Illinois, |
|
Dick Bode attended Loris College in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated |
|
from DePaul University; and |
|
WHEREAS, After retiring from professional life, Mr. Bode |
|
dedicated himself to public service in the city of Plano, where he |
|
was a member of the Plano City Council from 1990 to 2000 and mayor |
|
pro tem from 1996 to 2000; and |
|
WHEREAS, This caring gentleman was also a member of the |
|
Leadership Committee of John Paul II High School in Plano, and he |
|
devoted much time and energy to the Hope's Door women's shelter and |
|
the Collin County Adult Clinic; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted family man, he enjoyed 46 years of |
|
marriage to the love of his life, Marge Bode, and together they |
|
shared in raising five children and in welcoming seven |
|
grandchildren into their family; and |
|
WHEREAS, The loss of this esteemed Texan is keenly felt by the |
|
numerous friends that he made through the years as well as by the |
|
many people in Plano and beyond who will forever find inspiration in |
|
his generosity, integrity, and kindness; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard A. Bode and |
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
wife, Marge Bode; to his daughters, Anne Kuldanek and her husband, |
|
Ken, Julie Anderson and her husband, Ty, Ellen Hayes and her |
|
husband, Brian, and Molly Brown and her husband, Ryan; to his son, |
|
John Bode, and his wife, Nichole; to his grandchildren, Meg, Kevin, |
|
and Scotty Anderson, Gabbie Bode, and Abbey, Eilee, and Molly |
|
Hayes; to his sister, Anita Quinn; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dick Bode. |
