R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, May 30, 2009, marks the 50th wedding anniversary of
  Charles and Barbara Horak of El Paso, and this joyous event provides
  a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey
  together as husband and wife; and
         WHEREAS, Charles Joseph Horak, Jr., and the former Barbara
  Creamer were high school sweethearts at Austin High in El Paso
  before they were joined in marriage in 1959; through the years, they
  have been blessed with three children, Charles, David, and Sharon,
  and they have shared in the joy of welcoming into their family nine
  grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. and Mrs.
  Horak both hold degrees from The University of Texas at El Paso;
  together, they founded a successful construction company, C. J.
  Horak Construction, Inc., in 1976; since their retirement in 1990,
  they have continued to lead active lives, raising cattle on their
  ranch outside El Paso and serving their community; Mrs. Horak has
  volunteered with Therapeutic Horsemanship of El Paso and currently
  dedicates much of her time to counseling at the Crisis Pregnancy
  Center and working with the Woman's Department of the El Paso
  Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Horak has served as a church deacon and as
  a member and director of Hermanos de la Frontera, a border mission
  organization, and he has spent many years leading mission trips to
  Mexico; Mr. and Mrs. Horak are both valued members of the First
  Baptist Church of El Paso; and
         WHEREAS, The half-century of marriage that this devoted
  couple have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love
  and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all
  who know them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Charles and Barbara Horak on their
  50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Horak as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
