R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Hidalgo County Judge Juan de Dios Salinas III has
  been presented with the Leadership Award by the Rio Grande Council
  of Boy Scouts of America; and
         WHEREAS, Designated to honor individuals with significant
  community or business engagement, the Leadership Award recognizes
  civic service at the local, state, or national level; candidates
  for the Rio Grande Council's Leadership Award also possess strong
  records of service and support in the development of character in
  the youth of South Texas; and
         WHEREAS, J. D. Salinas graduated from La Joya High School and
  went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a
  master's degree in public administration from The University of
  Texas--Pan American; he was elected to the post of Hidalgo County
  clerk in 1998, at the age of 29, and took office as county judge in
  2007; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant is committed to
  building a better future for young Texans, and to that end, his
  administration focuses on promoting economic development,
  enhancing educational opportunities, expanding health care for
  children and families, and improving transportation
  infrastructure; the devoted father of five, Judge Salinas is
  especially committed to supporting programs that educate and
  motivate the next generation of leaders; he and his wife, Janie, are
  involved in a variety of community activities and are members of
  Holy Spirit Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Catholic Church; and
         WHEREAS, J. D. Salinas is an exemplary role model for young
  people in the Rio Grande Valley, and this award justly recognizes
  his many contributions to the Hidalgo County community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Hidalgo County Judge J. D. Salinas
  on his receipt of the Leadership Award from the Rio Grande Council
  of Boy Scouts of America and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Judge Salinas as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
